In a previous post, we discussed the high importance of RevPAS in the process of measuring Stadium performance. While RevPAS remains the gold standard for sport clubs and sport stadium operators, there are other insighgul metrics for measuring the overall health of a stadium or competition, which is Total Revenue per Available Seat, or TrevPAS.
TrevPAS assesses the total income a stadium generates on a per-available-seat during a matchday basis.
How TrevPAS can benefit your business?
The main advantage of TrevPAS is that it takes into consideration revenue from all areas, including food and beverage (concessions) sales, merchandising sales, other hospitality revenues, and other miscellaneous income during a home match-day.
These other areas can have a significant impact on a stadium’s overall performance, particularly fully renovated stadiums, which tend to feature the most extensive F&B and other entertaining offerings. TrevPAS also covers miscellaneous income, such as cancellation of tickets or no shows, which could otherwise be easy to overlook in the overall performance equation.
TrevPAS can also be useful for determining opportunities within your stadium when measuring against the competition and the structure of your competition’s revenues. If TrevPAS for sport stadiums in your competition or competitive set is significantly higher, you may need to keep an eye in on various areas or departments to see where your fees differ. For example, if your stadium is charging significantly less for food and beverage than its competitors, this could be an opportunity to increase F&B revenue, and subsequently, your TrevPAS.
Additionally, TrevPAS can help determine why revenues were up during a particular time period. By comparing same match-days during previous seasons and which made more of a revenue impact on your stadium, you can adjust your strategy to target different business in the future.
How it differs from RevPAS
While TrevPAS includes all sources of revenue within a sport stadium, RevPAS only includes seat revenue on a per-available-seat basis. In some instances, the stadium with the highest RevPAS may actually be outperformed by other stadiums when looking at TrevPAS, due to revenues coming from other departments.
Keep in mind
TrevPAS does not take expenses into account, so it cannot solely be used to determine the overall profitability and efficiency of a Sport Stadium.
