Revenue management is a common practice in the travel and hotel industries since the early 80’s. The aim is to maximize revenues of limited and fixed capacity assets (airplanes and hotels) through the implementation of revenue management strategies, such as dynamic pricing techniques, control of distribution channels, inventory control and product management, forecasting processes, and data, analytics and benchmarking practices
The sports industry is still in the early stages in applying all these strategies. Analyzing all these facts, is when Javier Serrano, Founder & Managing Director, saw an opportunity to provide solutions which would allow sport clubs and sport stadiums operators to improve their assets performance in the same way the airline and hotel industries are currently doing
Why? Because all these assets in any of these industries share common features: they all have limited and fixed capacity, perishable inventory, time-variable demand, segment-able demand, high fixed and low variable costs structures, and advance purchasing capability
Bearing all this in mind and considering some other singularities that the sports industry owns like fan engagement, time constrains (match-days), fan mobility, market fragmentation, limited technology and lack of market intelligence data available, plus seasoned all this with the new post-Covid era, Sports Industry Research was launched with the aim to help the sports industry to improve performance
